Naeem Brey

Dr Naeem Brey completed his undergraduate training at UCT. Cognizant of the epidemic sweeping the country he subsequently spent 2½ years managing patients with HIV. He subsequently spent time at the GSH Division of Neurology with exposure to the stroke unit there. He trained as a neurologist at Tygerberg Hospital where he continues to practice as consultant neurologist and lecturer. He has assisted in launching the Tygerberg Stroke Unit, which was only the third unit amongst state hospitals. He currently heads the unit. He is a member of the locals Angels and SASS steering committee. He has a passion for medical training and assists a number of hospitals to setup their own stroke units.
