Dr. Sharma joined Parkview in 2013. He is the founder and director of the interventional endoscopy program in 2013 (now termed Interventional oncology and surgical endoscopy programs - IOSE). At that time there was no interventional or gi onc program. The system now performs over 900 ERCP&cholangioscopy, is a regional leader in ablations & endoscopic resections, and is trending towards 1,500 EUS based procedures performing many novel procedures for first time in the region. He established the interventional endoscopy fellowship in 2017 through the national match. He has remained committed to education and advancement of the field through mentorship. He has recruited 12 providers to the program. He was asked to be medical director of the GI oncology program in 2014 which has since seen annual case rise by 300%. A comprehensive tumor board process was made in 2014 for GI oncology - a format now used across the cancer enterprise for the health system and has received a commendation from the COC. He also initiated the first multi-disciplinary clinic process in 2015.

In 2016, Dr. Sharma was asked to serve as President for the Parkview Cancer Institute which he helped the health system develop. He works along side the COO to help run strategy, recruitment, program development, financially resiliency and growth of cancer services for Parkview health - a 10 hospital nonprofit 13,000 employee health system. He has recruited all specialized medical and surgical oncology specialists, helped to design and develop subprogram and PCI brand. Also created quality metrics as well as create a tertiary, multi-disciplinary disease site format which is poised for population based health care delivery while currently thriving in todays climate. He has elevated the research in oncology through recruitment and personal efforts. Additionally a major focus has been upon fund raising and creation of a charitable endowment called the TCCF - Transformative Cancer Care Fund which will allow for the provision of uncovered cancer care services which provide nutrition, social and emotional support.

Dr Sharma believes in patient centric health care which optimizes service and experience. He is passionate about healthcare leadership and program design - creating sustainable multi-disciplinary platforms which are poised for future population health models in cancer care and Digestive disease. He continues to pursue efforts around alignment of clinical and operational models in multidisciplinary formats which enhance health care delivery for health systems.
