Nicola Waters MSc, PhD

Dr. Nicola Waters is a Registered Nurse with wound-related experience in clinical practice, education, industry, and research. Nicola is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. She completed a Masters in Science in Wound Healing and Tissue Repair at Cardiff University and currently teaches and supervises in the Cardiff MSc. program. Nicola holds a Ph.D. from the University of Calgary. Her research areas of interest include the psychosocial impact of chronic wounds and the social organization of advanced wound care practice. She is currently a chief scientific officer on a clinical trial of a smart surface monitoring device to prevent pressure injuries. Nicola was secretary of Wounds Canada from 2012-2017 and a past member of the speakers’ bureau of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC). She is a current board member of the International Wound Infection Institute and serves as a peer reviewer for several wound care journals.
