Dr. Becker is a certified registered nurse practitioner with three decades of diversified experience in teaching, management, and professional nursing. She has 18 years of teaching experience in practical, associate, baccalaureate, and graduate nursing programs.
Becker earned a post-master’s teaching certificate from University of Pennsylvania and taught in its pediatric primary care nurse practitioner program for six years, helping to develop a new case-study curriculum; designing research-based instructional materials; and identifying, evaluating, and providing learning plans for students who required additional assistance. Becker also taught in University of Pennsylvania’s post-master’s teacher education program, covering topics such as teaching strategies, learning disability interventions, and cross-cultural teaching.
Dr. Becker’s extensive clinical experience includes serving as the clinical director of nine maternal-child and mental health hospital units and supervising various medical-surgical units. She was a nurse practitioner in several pediatric clinics, and she opened and managed five nurse practitioner retail health clinics. For the past six years, she has spoken at Contemporary Forums, a health care continuing education conference, sharing her expertise in pediatric pharmacology and other topics.
Dr. Becker served as a legislative consultant for Arizona Nurses Association for two years, conferring with legislators and various health groups on nursing issues, researching bills, and testifying about nursing issues.
