Paul Coleman PhD

Dr. Coleman joined GSK in January 2020 to lead global efforts in Medicinal Chemistry. The GSK Medicinal Chemistry Department has sites in Upper Providence, PA (USA), Stevenage (UK) and Tres Cantos (Spain) as well as several key strategic partnerships. They have strong capabilities in drug design, synthesis, and candidate selection.

He was experienced and accomplished Medicinal Chemist and Drug Discovery Leader with a strong record of success in drug design, team leadership, candidate selection, preclinical development, and registration. He led the discovery program and lead inventor for a first-in-class medicine, BELSOMRA™ (SUVOREXANT) achieving FDA approval (Aug 2014). He also Provided leadership to cross-functional teams that have advanced >20 drug candidates into preclinical development in the areas of neuroscience (schizophrenia, pain, sleep), antivirals (HCV and HIV), oncology, neuroimaging, and osteoporosis.
