Peter R. Chai MD, MMS

Peter R Chai, MD, MMS, is an emergency medicine physician and a new addition to our medical toxicology faculty. In his research, he’s all about the intersection of technology and medicine. He’s currently studying ingestible biosensors, which are tiny, edible mechanisms on pills that track whether a patient is taking them as instructed.

Dr. Chai is also working on augmented reality devices for emergency telemedicine, which allow consultants to come to the bedside virtually during emergency care. In his previous efforts, he researched new methods to create in vitro three dimensional cell aggregates, and became a United States Patent holder for this technology. He has also consulted for a variety of tech companies including Google, the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, and Pristine IO. Dr. Chai’s work on Google Glass has been featured in the Boston Globe, Huffington Post, and CNBC.
