Dr. Rachel Bell MS FRCS is a consultant vascular surgeon and the network director for vascular surgery for the South East Vascular Network (SEVN). She is leading on the development of the vascular network and is on the board for the Vanguard and Cardiovascular Institute and Network (CVIN) projects. She is also the departmental audit lead.

Nationally Rachel is the secretary of the British Society of Endovascular Therapy (2014-18), and she is the London representative on the NHSE Clinical Reference Group (CRG) for vascular surgery.

She qualified, with distinction in surgery, from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in 1994. She did her surgical training in London and the South East Thames rotation. She was awarded an MS in 2005 for research into paraplegia and reperfusion injury following open and endovascular thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair. She completed her surgical training in 2006 and was awarded her FRCS (Gen Surg) and entry on to the Specialist Register in 2005. She was appointed as a consultant vascular surgeon to Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in 2005. She was clinical lead for vascular surgery from 2008-2016 and was involved in the reconfiguration of vascular services across South East London and North West Kent.

Rachel has a special interest in open and endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms and aortic dissection, particularly in relation to the treatment and management of infected grafts.
