Ramon Navarro Balbuena MD

Ramon Navarro Balbuena, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Neurological Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Originally from Spain, Dr. Navarro has extensive international experience in Neurosurgery. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Navarro practiced as a neurosurgeon at a number of US-based hospitals, including Stanford University Hospital and Florida-based Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Navarro has authored and co-authored numerous articles and book chapters in the neurosurgical literature. During his time practicing as a neurosurgeon, he has performed neurosurgical humanitarian work in Honduras and Kenya.

Dr. Navarro earned his medical degree from the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. He completed his Neurosurgical residency at the Hospital de Bellvitge in Barcelona and thereafter spent two years in the US, where he gained further experience in Pediatric and Complex Spinal Neurosurgery. He completed four fellowships, including one in Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Children’s Memorial Hospital at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, US, and another in Spinal Neurosurgery via a hospital rotation in Miami, Florida, US.
