Rebecca E. Cooney PhD

Rebecca Cooney is an experienced editor and writer with a passion for high-quality, engaging medical and health news and content. Previously, she served as Assistant and Associate Editor of Annals of The New York Academy of Sciences. Most recently before joining the Medscape team, she was the North American Editor of The Lancet, where she oversaw a number of media initiatives, including the launch of a US health blog and podcast.

Rebecca received her PhD in Psychology from Stanford University where she investigated the neural bases of mood and anxiety disorders and the intergenerational transmission of depression. After moving to New York City in 2006, she completed her post-doctoral training as a fellow in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University.
