Rei Ogawa MD, PhD, FACS

Dr. Rei Ogawa’s clinical specialty is reconstructive surgery and scar management including keloid and hypertrophic scar treatment. In relation to this, he is a world leader in the area of mechanobiology of scarring. He is now directing the Mechanobiology and Mechanotherapy Laboratory at his medical school. He holds several international patents in the field of tissue engineering.

He is an Editorial Board Member of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In addition, he is an active Member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS). He has co-authored over 50 chapters in books and over 400 papers in scientific journals and has presented over 1500 co-authored papers at conferences including over 250 invited lectures.

His research interests are Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery, Regenerative Surgery, and Anti-Aging Medicine.
