Dr Hughes is a member of Hampden Radiology Group. He qualified from Oxford University Medical School in 1995 and underwent post-graduate medical and radiology training at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London. Following a final-year Registrar Fellowship at the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital (RNOH), London, he took up a Consultant post at RNOH from 2004-2007. Dr Hughes is currently a Consultant Radiologist and Lead for spinal and musculoskeletal imaging at the National Spinal Injury Centre in Stoke Mandeville.
He has a special interest in musculoskeletal and spinal imaging and intervention including joint/ tendon interventions, spinal augmentation (vertebroplasty/ kyphoplasty) and injections for spinal pain. Previous publication areas include spinal MRI, knee injury and Mortons neuroma therapy. Current research interests include imaging of spinal cord injury and treatment of femoracetabular impingement in the hip.
