Rim Makhlouf, O.D., FAAO earned her undergraduate degree form McGill University in 2005, where she majored in Biochemistry. She then went on to pursue her career in Optometry at the University of Montreal where she graduated in 2010. She practiced for one year in Quebec, Canada in retail settings providing primary care and contact lens examinations. In 2012, Dr. Makhlouf completed a residency in Primary Care with emphasis in Ocular Disease at Nova Southeastern University. Her professional interests lies in primary care and ocular disease.

She is a member of the American Academy of Optometry and she is currently working towards the AAO Fellowship. She has presented continuing education courses as well as posters in topics of Ocular disease. Dr. Makhlouf joined the faculty at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2012 with the rank of Clinical Instructor and is currently an Assistant Professor.

Her current teaching responsibilities at NSU College of Optometry include precepting 3rd and 4 th year optometric students in primary care clinics. She is also an assistant lab instructor for Optometric Theory and Methods as well as guest lecturer in various courses in topics of ocular disease
