Rob A.B. Oostendorp is a is born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, on March 8, 1942. In 1962 he obtained his gymnasium diploma at the Canisius College in Nijmegen. He started his education in physiotherapy at the Sint Maartenskliniek in Nijmegen in 1963. He received his bachelor's degree in PT in 1966 and his degree in Manual Physical Therapy (MPT) in 1972. He studied Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy (MSc) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Brussels, Belgium which he finished in 1984 cum laude. Between 1984 – 1988 he did his Ph.D. study at the Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen (Radboud University Nijmegen), the Netherlands. he was a full-time (manual) physiotherapist at the Departments of Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy of Academic Hospital Nijmegen, Maria Hospital (Tilburg), and Josef Hospital (Veghel); between 1982 - 2004 part-time staff member of Practice of Physiotherapy and Manual Therapy in primary care. Between 1988 - 2007 he was the research director of the Dutch Institute of Allied Health Care (NPi), Amersfoort. Between 1989 – 2000 he was a full professor of Manual Therapy at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Free University of Brussels (VUB). Since 2000 he is a full professor in Allied Health Sciences at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre (Radboudumc), with a focus on allied health care, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical guidelines. He retired in 2007. He has published about 400 articles in national and international journals. He was the supervisor of 26 Ph.D. theses. He is a member of various national and international physiotherapy organizations and a reviewer of national and international journals. He is an honored member of the Royal Dutch Association of Physiotherapy (2007), the Dutch Association of Manual Therapy (2006), the Belgian Association of Manual Therapy (1997), the Study Group Neurorehabilitation - Keypoint (2013), the Research Group Pain in Motion (2014) and Officer in de Orde van Oranje Nassau (2007).
