Dr. Robert K. Cleary, MD is a Director of Research at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor. Dr. Cleary, born in Royal Oak, Michigan, graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in 1979. He received his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1984 and completed his residency in General Surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in 1989. A fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery followed at Parkland/Presbyterian Hospitals and was completed in 1992. Dr. Cleary is the Program Director for the Colon and Rectal Surgery residency, Vice President of the Association for Program Directors in Colon and Rectal Surgery, Chair of the Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative Enhanced Recovery Pathway Committee, member of the Alliance/American College of Surgeons Operative Standards for Cancer Surgery Committee, member of the Alliance/American College of Surgeons Cancer Care Delivery Research Committee, and member of the ACGME Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency Review Committee
