Robert Sweetow, PhD, is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and was the Director of Audiology at the UCSF Medical Center from 1991 - 2010. He received his Communicative Disorders undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa, a Masters from the University of Southern California, followed by a PhD in Audiology from Northwestern University.
Dr. Sweetow has utilized his teaching skills, over 30 years of clinical experience and research to assist patients and other audiologists to help manage hearing loss and auditory disorders. He and his colleagues developed a computerized, online program called Listening and Communication Enhancement (LACE) to help hard-of-hearing people learn skills on active listening. He is committed to providing the necessary tools to help patients effectively employ their resources to the best of their abilities.
