Dr. Rohit Shetty is the Vice Chairman of Narayana Nethralaya Eye Institute. He is a Professor at Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, India, and an Adjunct Associate Professor at MS Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore. Dr. Rohit is an Affiliate Associate Professor and Ph.D. guide at Maastricht University in The Netherlands. Dr. Shetty has over 150 publications in peer-reviewed indexed journals. He is a corneal and refractive surgeon at Narayana Nethralaya Eye Institute, Bangalore, India. His other areas of work include neuro-ophthalmology and electrophysiology. Dr. Rohit defended his Ph.D. from Maastricht University, the Netherlands on Understanding the Clinical, Immunological, and Genetic Molecular Mechanism of Keratoconus. He has a special interest in the management of keratoconus, tears film abnormalities, and biomarkers. He has introduced cutting-edge technology at Narayana Nethralaya and spearheads treatment for challenging eye disorders.
Dr. Rohit has over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer for many indexed journals in the specialty. He is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Refractive surgery. Dr. Shetty’s work on pain management after photorefractive keratectomy, the influence of stromal molecular markers on corneal ectasia, and risk scoring systems to predict ectasia after refractive surgery has been well received. With a keen interest in imaging, some of his research includes, waveform analysis of deformation and deflection amplitude in keratoconus, the influence of ocular spherical aberration on near and intermediate visual acuity in presbyopic eyes, biomechanics of LASIK Flap and SMILE Cap and corneal tomography in post-refractive surgery ectasia.
