Ruth Rutledge has worked broadly across multiple stages of drug development as well as numerous therapeutic areas. She began her career with Rhone-Poulenc Rorer in Cardiovascular Pharmacology. After moving to Merck in 1996, Ms Rutledge continued her research in 2 areas: neoangiogenesis inhibition through VEGF (KDR kinase) and migraine (CGRPr antagonist) before moving into Vaccines Clinical Research to support development of the first live attenuated Herpes Zoster vaccine to prevent shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia (ZOSTAVAXtm). Ms Rutledge then moved into Medical Communication at Merck where she established a new Operations group of Publications managers and shortly thereafter led the Chief Medical Officer’s efforts as Scientific Education Coordinator to collaborate with medical schools to educate students in drug development.
