Dr. Sandip Chatterjee, MBBS, FRCS, DNB, MNAM, and FRCS is a Professor and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences. Dr. Chatterjee started his medical career with an M.B.B.S. from Calcutta University, in 1984. This was followed by his F.R.C.S. from Edinburgh, the UK in 1989. He then went on to do his DNB in Surgery, in 1989, which was followed by F.R.C.S. (Neurosurgery), He, then passed the FR's Examination of Joint Intercollegiate Board in Neurosurgery in 1994, and later by Dip. National Board in Neurosurgery.
Dr. Chatterjee is presently the Hony Secretary, of the Indian Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery, the Hony President, of the India Society of Neuro-Oncology, and AO SPINE, Education Officer in Neurosurgery. He holds a Permanent Registration of the General Medical Council, U.K., as well as a Permanent Registration of the Indian Medical Council. He was a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (Neurosurgery), MNAMS, in 1996. Dr. Chatterjee is involved in a number of academic activities, such as Professor of Neurosurgery, and Member of, Editorial Board, Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences, Calcutta; Paper setter of the National Board of Examination in Neurosurgery; Editor-in-Chief, of the Journal of Neuroscientists of Eastern India (JANEI); Associate Editor, British Journal of Neurosurgery; Academic Co-ordinator for DNB Program in Neurosurgery, Park Clinic, Kolkata; Faculty, International Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery Courses and CME.
