Dr. Thorp received her medical degree from Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. She then completed her Family Medicine internship and residency at Ventura Family Medicine Residency in Ventura, California. She also completed the University of New Mexico’s (UNM) Maternal, Child, and Reproductive Health Fellowship in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated from UNM with a Masters of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology.

She practices as a hospitalist at Santa Paula Hospital in Santa Paula, California and at the Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura, California, and additionally provides comprehensive obstetric and newborn care in Socorro, New Mexico. Her practice interests include medical education, global health, substance use disorders, and LGBT health.

Sara has a passion for teaching and continues to train resident physicians and medical students in inpatient medicine and procedural medicine. She is a procedural expert with particular expertise in airway management, central line placement, arterial line placement, intraosseous line placement, and ultrasound-guided peripheral IV placement.
