Sarfaraz J. Baig MBBS, MS, FRCS, FIAGES

Dr. Sarfara J Baig is the Director of Digestive Surgery Clinic based in Belle Vue Hospital, Kolkata. He is a surgical gastroenterologist specialising in Bariatrics, Hernia and GI Oncosurgery. His qualifications are MBBS MS FRCS FIAGES FALS (bariatrics). He is a one of the pioneers of bariatric and Abdominal Wall Reconstruction surgery in the country. He is an active member of ASI, IASG, IAGES, AMASI, IASO, OSSI and IFSO. He has been an EC member in many of these organisations. He has organized many single theme conferences on important topics related to GI surgery. He was a co authored three monographs on biliary surgery, liver surgery and bariatric nutrition. He has publications on gallbladder mucosa, acute pancreatitis, bronchobiliary fistula, colorectal cance, ileosigmoid knotting and complex anal fistula. His stint as a teacher from 2000 to 2006 in Medical College Kolkata is still remembered fondly by his students. He runs various single theme training courses at his centre including bariatrics.
