Sharon Adler, MD is a Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and an Investigator at the Lundquist Institute. Dr. Adler's experimental and clinical research focuses on all aspects of diabetic kidney disease and glomerulonephritis. She recently discovered molecules in the urine that facilitate the identification of kidney disease early on; this discovery is expected to open up new avenues for the treatment of kidney disease and for the preservation of the peritoneal membrane. She is a member of two NIH-sponsored consortia to understand the pathogenesis of glomerular diseases in order to find new treatments based on a more sophisticated understanding of pathogenesis.
