Shifu Xiao MD, PhD

Dr. Shifu Xiao is the psychiatrist in chief of the Department of Geriatric Psychiatry, Shanghai Mental Health Center, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, and the Director of Alzheimer's Disease Center, Shanghai Jiaotong University. He graduated from Shanghai Second Medical School obtaining medical Master's and Doctor degrees. His academic posts include Vice Chairman of the Geriatrician Association of China, Vice Chairman of Alzheimer Disease China, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Geriatrician Association, Consultant for the National Medical Products Administration of China, and for the Medical Science and Technology of China Ministry of Health. He has been doing clinical work and teaching for more than 30 years. His research is mainly focused on the diagnosis and treatment of neurocognitive disorders and depression in the elderly.

Xiao has been granted 2 national research projects related to mental health for the elderly from China's Ministry of Science and Technology. As leading PI, he has conducted more than 10 phase II/III national multi-center, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials for anti-Alzheimer medications in the last decades. He has more than 200 original articles as first author or co-author and 36 scientific books as editor or contributor. He has won several awards and honors, including the WHO-China Best Scientific Article Award for Neuroscience and Psychiatry, the Science and Technology Advance Award by the China Ministry of Education, the Shanghai Science and Technology Advance Award, the Shanghai Silver Snake Award, State Council Allowance of China, the Excellent Geriatrian of Shanghai and the Excellent Psychiatrist of China.
