Stephen Robson MB BS MRCOG MD FRCP(Edin) is Professor of Fetal Medicine and a member of the Institute of Cellular Medicine at Newcastle University. After graduating from Newcastle University he undertook further training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Northern Region of England. He was subsequently appointed to a Lectureship at the RPMS Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital in London after which he was awarded a RCOG Subspecialty Training Fellowship. After completing subspecialty training at University College Hospital, London, he returned to Newcastle University as Senior Lecturer, prior to being appointed Professor of Fetal Medicine in 1994. His main research interests are: uterine cell signalling, mechanisms of myometrial quiescence and clinical trials in the area of high risk pregnancy and prenatal screening. He has been involved in the development and audit of national guidelines relating to obstetric care and is Clinical Director of the NIHR CRN: North East and North Cumbria.
