Dr. Lichtman has devoted his career to providing quality care to underserved and undertreated older populations with cancer. Dr. Lichtman is an attending physician at Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases, member of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and their 65+ Clinical Geriatric Group (which he chaired from 2006 to 2009), and professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. He has been involved with the International Society of Geriatric Oncology for the past 20 years, including participating in various task forces and serving on the Board of Directors, as U.S. national representative, and as scientific chair of the 2011 meeting. Dr. Lichtman is also actively involved with the Cancer and Leukemia Group B and the Elderly Task Force of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, Cancer and Aging Research Group, and Editorial Board of the Journal of Geriatric Oncology. He has previously worked with the Scientific Advisory Board of the Geriatric Oncology Consortium and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Guidelines Task Force for the Treatment and Evaluation of Older Women with Breast Cancer.

An ASCO member since 1988, Dr. Lichtman serves on the Clinical Practice Committee, Scientific Program Committee, and Geriatric Oncology Special Interest Group.

Dr. Lichtman has been a guest editor for special editions of the Journal of Clinical Oncology devoted to geriatric oncology (2007 and 2014). He has published over 100 articles in peer- reviewed journals, contributed to nine book chapters, and edited three books. ASCO honors Dr. Lichtman for his outstanding leadership and contributions to the field of geriatric oncology.
