Dr. Sudhansu Bhattacharyya served as a full-time Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College and evinced a keen interest in teaching for over 10 years before entering into the practice world in 1983. He specialized and attained MCh (Cardio-Thoracic Surgery) under renowned Cardiac Surgeon and world pioneer Dr. Dudley Johnson. Now, he is a Cardiovascular Surgeon at Breach Candy Hospital in India.
He joined Jaslok Hospital and then Breach Candy Hospital and then gradually was invited to join most of the major hospitals in Mumbai.
Apart from being an accomplished Cardiac Surgeon, Dr. Bhattacharya has invented, designed, and patented a few surgical instruments, the most important ones being Atrial Retractor for Mitral Valve Replacement and Internal Mammary Artery Retractor for taking down bilateral Internal Mammary Arteries.
Dr. Bhattacharyya has received many accolades and numerous awards in his illustrious career and has been recognized globally for his contribution and work in cardiac surgery. He has also presented papers at many National and International conferences and has authored many articles in National & International journals.
