Timothy Riley, MD, is originally from Syracuse, New York. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond in Virginia, attended medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, and completed his residency at Lancaster General Hospital.

Dr. Riley was in private practice for seven years. He is passionate about caring for his patients as people. Dr. Riley believes clinicians must be well themselves in order to care for others. He currently serves as the Department of Family and Community Medicine's Associate Vice Chair for Wellness, focused on provider wellbeing. He is a qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher.

He has developed and taught many courses for Penn State Health's Family and Community Medicine Residency (Hershey, Pa.), including humanities, diagnostic imaging, wellness, quality improvement and health systems management. He regularly precepts residents in their outpatient continuity clinics and teaches residency didactic sessions, while also serving as an adviser and mentor for many family and community medicine residents.

Dr. Timothy Riley enjoys the full scope of family medicine in the outpatient clinical setting, treating adults and children. He has participated in numerous quality improvement and safety projects to enhance the clinic experience for patients and improve health outcomes.
