Dr. Walter Valesky is a board certified Sports Medicine and Emergency Medicine specialist. He is the newest member of the Division of Sports Medicine team. Both as a former professional athlete and sports physician, Dr. Valesky brings extensive experience in working with athletic populations. Dr. Valesky completed his medical education at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at SUNY Downstate in 2012 where he was Chief Resident in his final year.
He subsequently remained at SUNY Downstate for a one-year fellowship in emergency ultrasound and then completed a one-year fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at North Shore University Hospital in 2014. While at North Shore University Hospital, Dr. Valesky served as a sports physician for Long Island's local public school sports programs. He also was the Chief Team Physician for the U.S. Water Polo Team at the 2013 World Water Polo Championships in Kazakhstan.
Dr. Valesky is an accomplished athlete. He was a collegiate soccer player at Georgia State University and played professional soccer with the Atlanta Silverbacks and Wilmington Hammerheads. Now a Brooklyn resident Dr. Valesky spends his free time weight lifting, rock climbing, surfing, and snow boarding.
