Dr. Teague is a native of Atlanta and has devoted more than thirty years in academic medicine to the care and study of children with respiratory disorders. He is a professor of pediatrics and has served as chief of the Division of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine at UVA Children’s Hospital since 2009. As an active clinician, Dr. Teague’s practice is focused on children with problematic wheeze, particularly in preschool children, and severe, treatment-resistant asthma.

Dr. Teague has served on the steering committee for the NIH/NHLBI Severe Asthma Research Program since 2000, and recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Pediatric Research from the Child Health Research Center (CHRC) at UVA. He has been the associate director of the CHRC since 2014, and in that role oversees human subjects research at the Clinical Research Unit located in the Battle Building.

Dr. Teague has authored over 125 peer-reviewed publications primarily focused on severe asthma in children, and is an accomplished bronchoscopist. When not conducting research or practicing medicine, Dr. Teague pursues a personal interest in comparative religion, theology and American history.
