Dr. William Brody, MD, Ph.D. is president and professor emeritus of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and formerly served for 13 years as the president of Johns Hopkins University. He trained as a physician-scientist, with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT and an M.D. and Ph.D. (EE) from Stanford University. He was a professor of radiology at Stanford, radiologist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins, and oversaw the health sciences at the University of Minnesota before becoming president of Johns Hopkins.
Dr. William Brody has served on numerous corporate and non-profit organizations and presently is a director of Stanford Healthcare, and trustee of the W.M. Keck Foundation. He co-founded four medical device companies and served as CEO of Resonex, Inc. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Mr. Brody joined the Curtis board of trustees in March 2017 and was attracted to Curtis through his interest in classical music (piano).
