Professor Wuh-Liang Hwu is a Pediatrician with a PhD in Molecular Medicine. He has also done a fellowship at Johns Hopkins University and Mayo Clinic. He was the Department Head of Medical Genetics at NTUH from 2006 to 2012 and was the Inaugural President of the Taiwan Human Genetics Society from 1999 to 2002. Professor Hwu set up the Newborn Screening Program for Pompe Disease in Taiwan, one of the first in the world. He has dedicated much of his research and clinical efforts to the diagnosis, management, and gene therapy for patients with rare genetic diseases.
